Sleeping Bag Seva

This program started in 1994 as “Toy drive” for Christmas. It evolved into “sleeping bag drive” in last ten years. With membership contributions, during holidays, we delivered 50 sleeping bags in the first year. To meet the increased need in the community we have increased this quantity to 250 for the past four years.

This drive is very much appreciated by Emergency Housing Consortium (now known as Home First) of Santa Clara County. We generally order the sleeping bags from Walmart, pick them up from Walmart in Milpitas in a convoy of minivans and then deliver them to the Sunnyvale Armory (EHC Shelter), 620 East Maude Ave, Sunnyvale, CA. At the distribution site, all are welcome; its especially informing for children to see and have contact with people in need. No limits on numbers of people that can show up for the distribution.
