This Service was started in 2004 as a way to help our own Chinmaya community by serving hot tea & snacks during Sunday Bala Vihar sessions. This evolved into a booth at the San Jose Bala Vihar location serving Tea, Coffee, Idli/Sambar; Lemon rice, samosa & and other snacks provided by volunteers.
Many volunteers take an active role in managing this operation. All earnings go towards new building fund and other Mission projects. We have raised more than $80,000 since 2004. This is a grass-roots effort to participate in new building project and great way to stay connected to mission. Everyone has the opportunity to serve and connect with the community. Please participate by signing to bring tea or snacks on Sundays. Sign up with any volunteers below during Bala Vihar hours or by emailing to the contact below. This “service is for our members by our members”.
Gurudev says in the pledge, “We live honestly the noble life of sacrifice and service, producing more than what we consume and giving more than what we take”. Hence our motto,
“Take what you need, donate what you can”
