Hari Om!
Chinmaya Mission’s Om Run 2017 (omrun.cmsj.org) was held at the scenic Vasona Park in Los Gatos, CA on Sunday, April 23rd 2017. This is the 7th successful year of this spectacular event. Om Run has grown over the years in scale, content and delivery since its inception in 2010.
Om Run was conceived many years ago as one of the ways Chinmaya Mission advocates its Mission statememt which is “to give maximum happiness to maximum people for maximum time” Chinmaya Mission was founded by Swami Chinmayananda in the 1950’s, the mission has 380 locations across the globe. Chinmaya Mission is a non-profit organization that provides value education for kids, spiritual classes for adults and it undertakes several community-building projects.
The event was open for registration to all. Over 1800 people attended Om Run 2017.
The day started with warm-up exercise by Bombay Jam, followed by 5k, 10k and a half marathon, Throughout the day patrons were entertained with music and dance. There was a spread of Indian food choices and snacks available to purchase.
The carnival (Mela) section of Om Run had attractions like rock-climbing, slides, petting zoo, pony rides and other fun activities like face painting, hip a dee hop, tug of war etc. Boating was another popular attraction – all part of the family oriented Om Run fun!!
