Om Run 2016 is a community building event that is aimed at bringing the larger Bay Area Chinmaya Mission families together for a day filled with fun activities for the whole family. Om Mela has been a crowd favorite for all the previous events. This year Om Mela will feature a petting zoo, carnival games and many more new attractions. We will also have a number of mouth-watering food options. The events will include a 5K Run/Walk, 10K Run/Walk and a Half Marathon. All attendees will also have the opportunity to go on a nature walk at scenic Quarry Lakes.

Chinmaya Mission San Jose launched the “Om Run” event in 2009 to bring the Chinmaya Family in the greater SF Bay Area together for a fun filled day of outdoor activities for both kids and adults. The main objective was to encourage our Balavihar Kids and all the adults to participate in this Running Program and to raise funds for the new Ashram the mission is planning to build in San Jose. Our first run was in 2010 and was a huge success! Over 1800 people participated in this event. It became an instant success within the Chinmaya Community. The event day was packed with 5K, 10K, Walkathon for kids & senior citizens, Jump house, Games and fun activities along with nice boutique stalls and food! Followed by a Half Marathon in Pescadero, CA. Following its success, we had two successful events in 2011 and 2013 in Quarry Lakes in Fremont. In 2014 the venue moved to Hellyer County Park and continued there for 2015. Om Run 2015 was our biggest event yet in terms of attendees. In 2016 we are back to Quarry Lakes.
